DUI & Criminal Defense
If you are stopped while driving a motor vehicle:
- Courteously
inquire why you are being stopped.
- If asked,
give name, address, driver's license, vehicle registration,
and proof that the vehicle is insured. Comply if asked your
destination.
- If asked
by the officer if you have had anything to drink, courteously
state that if the officer intends to detain, question, or arrest
you, that you would like to contact your attorney immediately.
If someone
serves you with a criminal or tax warrant, or approaches you and
gives you Miranda warnings, you should exercise your constitutional
right to remain silent and request to contact your attorney immediately.
If you receive Miranda warnings and you try to explain and exonerate
yourself, in most instances you will be providing information
that will most probably aid in your conviction.
